About National Escargot Day

Date: Celebrated Annually on May 24

If you can get past the idea of eating these cute garden foragers go right ahead and dig in on May 24 because that’s National Escargot Day.
It’s believed land snails have been consumed for centuries as the dining custom dates back to ancient Rome.
Each year, restaurants serve about one billion snails, many of which are slathered in butter, herbs and wine sauces to enhance the flavor of the little shelled suckers.
