National Catfish Day

About National Catfish Day

Date: Celebrated annually on June 25

Don’t let the somewhat frightening looks of these notorious bottom feeders fool you. Catfish is a delicious, sweet-tasting fish that is commonly associated with Cajun-style cooking.
Traditional recipes generally call for spicing up this fish with a blend of seasonings or grilling it till it’s blackened in a cast-iron skillet. The fish gets its name from its prominent barbells, which look like cat whiskers.
Designated in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan, June 25 marks National Catfish Day.
