Date: Celebrated annually on April 17
The original Ford Mustang made its debut on April 17, 1964 and that’s why we celebrate Ford Mustang Day each year on that day.
Ford forecasted annual sales of its new sleek vehicle at 100,000, a big underestimation as sales on the first day alone rose to 22,000. Its first 12 months would see sales of over 400,000, an amount that ballooned to one million in two years.
The original Mustang, with a ticket price of $2368, was dubbed the 1964 ½ because it debuted in April at an unusual halfway point during the year.
